Join us for an inside look at our Whitaker Treatment Wetlands system, a unique project pioneering new stormwater filtration in the State of Minnesota. The project is built in White Bear Township at the headwaters of Lambert Creek. Lambert Creek was selected for this project by the MN Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund due to its impairment for high nutrient and bacteria levels. Polluted stormwater runoff entering Whitaker Pond drains into Lambert Creek then onto Vadnais Lake.
We'll look at how this giant water filter works, what it's made out of, its water treatment data, and what we're learning along the way. We'll also cover how this project fits into the larger picture of Lambert Creek and the VLAWMO watershed. Come with questions and curiosity or just observe!
