Habitat brush-ups at Vadnais Heights City Hall
When: Saturday May 29th, 10-Noon

Where: Vadnais Heights City Hall - 800 County Road E East

What: This volunteer day will include two activities to choose from. If one completes before the other, that group will join up with the one still working. 

1. Buckthorn Bustin':
To follow-up on previous buckthorn removals, we'll hand-pull the small saplings that threaten to re-establish in the wooded wetland. No chemical treatments or power tools will be used. 

2. Raingarden brush-up:
Prep the VH raingarden for spring and summer. We'll chop down dead grasses and forbes, rake leaves, pull weeds, and clear trash out of the trap rock and basin. This public raingarden is a value to East Vadnais Lake as well as an educational demonstration for VLAWMO workshops. We appreciate your help in keeping it top-notch!

What to bring: Gloves, shoes for working in muddy areas, water bottle, sun protection. Trowels or hand-held garden tools for weeding (some will be provided). Durable scrub brushes for wiping shoes -- this site contains invasive jumping worms. We'll be wiping shoes when leaving the vicinity to prevent spread.
