Are you or someone you know available for volunteering on weekdays? Join us in our buckthorn removal series, Fridays from mid-September to mid-October. We'll be doing invasive buckthorn removal at the Vadnais Heights City Hall and at the intersection of 4th and Otter Lake Road in White Bear Lake. The Vadnais Heights City Hall focuses on a wooded wetland and 4th and Otter will be preparing the site for a sand-iron filter that will improve runoff draining into Birch Lake. Your help helps us prepare for future projects a these locations, making the site preparations easier and more efficient, while helping restore native habitat for healthier wetlands. Workdays will take place on Fridays, 10:00 am - 3:00 pm. Stay as long as you're able, bring a lunch if you plan to stay the entire time. 

What to bring: Wear long pants and consider tick protection (rubber boots are great, and tuck in pant legs). Bring a pair of gloves. If you have one handy, consider bringing a clippers or small hand saw. Several tools will be on hand, but gloves are most important and will allow for ample contributions. 

Parking: A small gravel parking space is available at the north corner of the 4th and Otter intersection. This is best reached from westbound on 4th street as you turn right (north) onto Otter Lake road. Back-up parking is available in local resident Dale Bacon's driveway (1493 N Birch Lake Blvd) or on the shoulder of Otter Lake road (use caution).
