The Watershed Management Plan is an important tool for planning projects, programs, and community priorities.

This document is the result of robust community engagement and input, plus in-depth discussion and review from various local and statewide partners.

The Watershed Management Plan will guide VLAWMO's work from 2027-2036.

VLAWMO recently developed its fifth-generation Plan through an extensive review process. This will guide VLAWMO's programs and projects for a ten-year span.

Plan Content

The Watershed Management Plan was developed to help VLAWMO achieve its mission of protecting and enhancing the water resources in the Vadnais Lake Watershed. This is VLAWMO's fifth Plan, meaning it will build on the foundation of previous plans' goals and achievements, while evolving to meet the issues and goals of the decade ahead.

This Plan was created to be useful for VLAWMO, its agency and local government partners, and its residents. It will provide a guiding vision for the management of water and natural resources in the watershed from 2027-2036.

Plan Development

The Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources (BWSR) approved VLAWMO's 2027-2036 Watershed Management Plan on April 22, 2026. VLAWMO's Board of Directors adopted the Plan on June 17, 2026.

In accordance with Minnesota Statutes, the Plan was developed by VLAWMO staff and Board of Directors with input and review by the VLAWMO Technical Commission (TEC), interested watershed residents, community groups, and partner agencies and organizations.
