Charley Lake
Charley Lake is the receiving waterbody for the Saint Paul Regional Water Services (SPRWS) augmentation system from the Mississippi River. An average of 32 million gallons per day is pumped from the Mississippi into Charley Lake. The water is pumped from an intake in Fridley and flows through two 60-inch culverts into the northwest corner of Charley. Water continues on to Pleasant Lake, Sucker Lake, and East Vadnais Lake through a series of engineered channels. Water from East Vadnais Lake is then pumped to the SPRWS treatment plant for municipal water supply. Charley Lake was historically fed by an area known as "Long Marsh" to the north/northeast of the lake.
