Birch Lake
Birch Lake is one of the healthiest lakes in the VLAWMO watershed, and is a rare example of a suburban waterbody in a clean water state. While it is one of VLAWMO's cleanest lakes, it also has some of the highest average chloride (salt) levels. Birch Lake receives inflow from its subwatershed and groundwater, and outflows north into the Rotary Wetland Preserve and north to Wilkinson Lake. Depending on water table and precipitation conditions, the Rotary Wetland Preserve can temporarily flow south into Birch Lake.
