A volunteer work day to continue to improve habitat and water quality at the site of the iron-enhanced sand filter at Birch Lake.
Reducing woody debris helps keep the filter functioning well and removing pollutants from stormwater entering into Birch Lake. We'll be removing invasive buckthorn on the north end of the site, seeding restored areas, and maintaining previously restored areas. We will be accommodating with social distancing guidelines, masks are recommended.
Bring gloves and tools if you have them handy. Staff will have a collection of hand saws and snips available for use.
To participate, please bring a completed volunteer waiver, scan and send a waiver to staff, or complete a waiver when you arrive. Click here to download waiver. Scanned waivers can be sent to nick.voss@vlawmo.org.
