VLAWMO underwent a study to determine the true boundary lines for its watershed. Changes were made based on the the true hydrology of the area (whether water flows into VLAWMO or out). The hydrology can be affected by storm sewer drains. A very careful and detailed study was done to determine the true flow of water in the watershed.
The changes have been approved by the VLAWMO Board of Directors, the neighboring watersheds (Rice Creek Watershed District, Ramsey Washington Metro Watershed District, and Grass Lake Water Management Organization), all affected municipalities, and finally by the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources who oversees all watershed organizations.
Some communities have many changes while others had very few or none at all. Please see the attached maps for close up views of the boundary changes. Please contact VLAWMO with any questions or concerns.
