VLAWMO Summit - October 11, 2007
VLAWMO and HDR hosted a conference titled, “Partnership: It's OUR Watershed” on October 11, 2007. The event was held at the Tamarack Nature Center in White Bear Township. The goal of the conference was to bring together people from the communities within VLAWMO, local government representatives, other watershed staff, as well as county and state officials to talk about projects and issues happening within VLAWMO.
Topics covered included:
- Local Water Plans: What is in the new VLAWMO Water Plan and how will it affect YOUR local plan?
- State Agency Updates: Information from the PCA and BWSR on the new Wetland Conservation Act and stormwater rules.
- What is a Sustainable Lake Management Plan and how can it help with enhancement and protection?
- Shallow Lake Ecology: What do we need to know to be good stewards?
- Can VLAWMO's new BATHTUB computer model help your community?
- Are we seeing more drought and large storm events? Should we plan for more extreme conditions?
- VLAWMO's new Stormwater Utility Program: what it means for you.
